Jenson Button, McLaren’s Honda F1 team driver who announced his retirement from F1 at the end of this season way back in August, finally called the curtain down on his career after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix held on Sunday.

In an interview granted recently, Jenson Button had made it known that one of his best partner throughout his career was Rubens Barrichello. The duo had spent about four seasons with the McLaren squad and were good partners.

Jenson Button had this to say about Barrichello,

“Without a doubt, Rubens Barrichello is the best partner. We worked together for four years, spoke to Brawn GP, where he fought for the title.

“Rubens taught me a lot in terms of technical operation with the machine. He was a master at fine tuning.

“Alonso is good in this respect, but Rubens is just in another League. Now I know why Schumacher was so fond of to work with this guy.” (more…)

Rubens Gets The Golden Helmet In Sao Paolo

Rubens Barrichello was the highlight of the premium motoring Golden Helmet in Brazil, held the evening of Wednesday in Sao Paulo. The pilot was the winner in the category Stock Car, which was the champion this year and celebrated the fact of not having cried with honor.

After receiving the award from the hands of Paulo Gomes first Stock Car champion in 1979, Rubens attended a tribute with photos that recorded all season. However, the stronger, the pilot held the tears and said he was less “whiner”.

Former Formula 1 driver was delighted with his return to Brazil and evaluated the season as “exceptional”. F-1 runner-up in 2002 and 2004, Rubens also revealed that, in 2013, tried to negotiate another year in Indy, but gave up the idea after his first test in Stock Car.

More accustomed to the category, Barrichello said the unprecedented title came thanks to the learning achieved with the 2013 errors and celebrates the way the season ended for him: “Ending the year with the children on the car gave a priceless emotion,” said to the press at the awards.

Pietro Fittipaldi also won the Golden Helmet award for the house. The 18-year-old won the international category. He was invited to the week of the Formula 3 tests and caught the attention of Ferrari, who called him to meet his school pilots.
